Director’s Statement

I think people will find this film is more than just about baseball or even the history of baseball I hope that deep down their film is about a community of people that have come together to celebrate something that they find joy in.

Director/Producer: Allie Sheedy


Allie Sheedy is a filmmaker from Baltimore County who has produced, assistant directed, and done production design for several films is a current film student currently attending Stevenson University. He will receive his Bachelor’s Degree in May 2020. She has worked on several films such as Spot, Bradvertisment, Solar Sid, and on several ads for local nonprofits and the Institute of Notre Dame. One of the best parts of making films is the people you get to interact with along the way and finding out about different people’s stories.

Producer: Jimmy McDonald


Jimmy McDonald is a filmmaker from Laurel, MD who has a diverse background in filmmaking. He has been a writer, director, editor, and lead actor on 2 of his projects, 2018's Gilbert, and 2019's Queso, which screened at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore and has one an audience choice award. Beyond that, he has done sports video work, another short doc, and is co-directing the upcoming short Trick or Bleat. One of the best parts of being a producer on this doc was being able to interact with so many people from a variety of backgrounds and see what brings them all together to enjoy this unique take on baseball.

Editor: Dylan Borcherding


Dylan Borcherding is a film student currently attending Stevenson University. He will receive his Bachelor’s Degree in May 2020. He’s edited a variety of film/video content ranging from personal projects like Somewhere In- Between and BIOCONTROL to more commercial-based work such as for the Institute of Notre Dame. Dylan has previously worked as an intern at Digital Cave Media in Hampden, Baltimore, and has helped with work for clients in various stages of the production process including the sound design on a commercial for the Timbuktu Restaurant in Hanover, MD.

Cinematographer: Mariam Salahvarzi


Mariam Salahvarzi is a Cinematographer, Editor, and Colorist in the Baltimore and DC area. She will be receiving a Bachelor of Science in Film and Moving Image from Stevenson University. She is passionate about creatively telling stories through unique perspectives and does so by lens choice, coloring techniques, and various editing styles. The First Inning, was an exciting project for Mariam to work on as she was able to be up close with the players and the game, capturing all the B-Roll. Mariam has experience developing documentaries, narratives, experimental shorts, and music videos. Her most recent work as a Director of Photographer and Colorist was, A Doll's World (2020) and music video, Wrecker (2020).

Cinematographer: Evan Gloyd


Evan Gloyd is a Film and Moving Image student in his senior year at Stevenson University, which is located in Owings Mills, Maryland. He will earn his Bachelor’s Degree in May of 2020. He has worked as an editor and cinematographer on a number of various projects throughout his college career, including short films (SPOT), documentaries (Mr. Suit Records' First Friday Fright Night), and experimental pieces (BIOCONTROL). He was a sports broadcaster at Stevenson’s athletic department for over two years, live broadcasting games for fans and recording/editing highlight reels. He was also an intern at Focal Point Productions in Owings Mills, where he helped to create video content for clients such as Continental Realty Corporation, Saft Batteries, CareFirst, Sheppard Pratt, and others.

Composer: Vince Ray


I am a jazz musician studying at Towson University. I teach and play the flute as my primary instrument (as well as piccolo and alto flute) but I also play piano and tenor saxophone; I am a former member of the Baltimore Flute Choir and a current tenor saxophonist in the Frederick Community College Jazz Band. While studying Jazz Performance at Towson, I've not only built my performance skills as an instrumentalist, but I have also worked to grow my composition and arrangement skills and have been commissioned to write arrangements for parishes in the area.
